Thank you for voting and for participating in Rivergrove’s future.
The latest election results show 244 ballots cast out of approximately 400 registered voters — more than 60% turnout in a primary election. By comparison, statewide turnout was under 40%. That level of participation reflects a community that is paying attention, engaged, and committed to our city's direction. Please stay involved!
This election also highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and meaningful public participation in local government. Many residents expressed concern about recent city processes, including limited public engagement, insufficient long-term planning, and communication practices that felt less open than Rivergrove residents have historically expected.
Rivergrove has long valued direct citizen involvement, volunteer leadership, and regular dialogue between residents and city officials. One example is the monthly Rivergrove Report, which is separate from a Public Meeting Notice and has not been published for the last three years. The reason for this is unclear.
Rivergrove was intentionally established as a small, volunteer-supported city with a City Council form of government rather than a tax-supported City Manager structure. Preserving that model requires openness, respectful communication, and active citizen participation. It also requires public processes that encourage involvement, welcome differing viewpoints, and maintain trust within the community. When public processes lack transparency, residents face barriers to participation, access to public records is restricted, or individuals are singled out in public communications, the city's ability to function effectively is weakened.
Regardless of individual positions during this election, the strong turnout demonstrates that Rivergrove residents care deeply about their city and want to be part of its future.
Thank you again for taking the time to vote!
