Pay us or else!

Wow! Did you see the city's email last night? It sounded like a ransom note.
Let's be clear, this vote isn't about LO, it's about property tax.
This city, the one that has dramatically increased spending for the last three years, the one that has drawn down the general fund for the last three years, is telling you it is running out of money, and that it isn't its fault. It is telling you that if you don't give them the money they want, they will drive this city into the ground and YOU will have to deal with the consequences.
No mention of cutbacks, no mention of reducing services, no mention of cutting staff, just keep spending until they have to shut down. The subject line should have been, "pay us or else!"
Not a surprise the email did not tell you that the budget committee approved a budget for next fiscal year the night before. And the person who sent out this email, the city manager, will get 1/3 of the revenue from the new property tax as a 38% pay increase.
Does a city that behaves like this deserve more of your money?
Vote.
